The Ibanez PGM401 Electric Guitar in Trifade Burst is the much-anticipated replacement for the PGM301 Paul Gilbert signature model.
Despite being one of Gilbert's favourite signature models, production of the PGM401 was discontinued a few years ago, so this could well be your last chance to buy it!

Vintage-Style Paul Gilbert Signature
For the PGM401, both Ibanez and Paul Gilbert opted for a more traditional, vintage approach, in terms of both tone and aesthetics.
A Vintage Approach
The first thing you'll notice that's different about this guitar is the Tri Fade finish. Unusual for a Paul Gilbert signature, this Sunburst-esque paint job is the first step taken to give the guitar its vintage sensibility.
Whilst the PGM401 features the usual RG-style Ash body, the high-performance neck eschews the more modern "All Access Neck Joint" in favour of a traditional "Tilt Joint". Gilbert himself opted for this neck joint, as it generally provides a "fatter" sound.
In addition to this, the pickups also feature a set of black pickup rings - unusual for a Paul Gilber signature - and as a result, those famous painted F-Holes are a little smaller to keep the look balanced.
DiMarzio Pickups
Another key change for this guitar is the pickups. In place of the more modern-sounding options generally found on a Paul Gilbert Signature guitar, the PGM401 comes equipped with a set of DiMarzio Air Classics.
These pickups are renowned for their rich, warm, vintage tone. Whether you're after playing creamy lead lines, heavy power chords and riffs, or face-melting Gilbert-esque legatos, these pickups will have you covered.
Despite coming equipped with Alnico 5 magnets, these pickups utilise Airbucker technology to reduce string-pull for an increased sustain and sensitivity.
Limited Availability
As mentioned above, the Ibanez PGM401 is no longer in production, and hasn't been for a few years. In other words, this may well be your last chance to buy a new one, so we recommend you act sooner rather than later to avoid missing out!
