The enclosure features closed-back, front-ported birch plywood construction with tuned Thiele/Small ports for optimised low-end response.
Even the dimensions were meticulously planned out in order to dampen the speaker’s movement while allowing it to breath. As a result, the speaker is free to give you its entire potential with fantastic output.

Bionic Tone Generation
At the core of the Black Spirit 200’s amazing tone is the cutting-edge bionic tone generating technology known as Spirit.
Utilising strictly analogue circuitry, the Spirit technology is able to faithfully recreate the complex and dynamic processes you get from classic valve amps.
This circuitry combined with the specialised enclosure and a UK-made Celestion Creamback speaker gives you a full force wall-of-sound experience.
Innovative Power Amp Sagging Control
A world’s first when introduced in the original Black Spirit 200, the Black Spirit 200 Combo also features innovative true power amp sagging control.
To achieve fantastic tone at all times, the Black Spirit 200 Combo drops the power supply voltage when spiking transient signals reach the output stage.
By moving the Sagging knob on the Black Spirit 200 Combo amp’s control panel, you can adjust the power amp sag and get the exact tone you want at any volume level.
Versatile Channel and FX Options
Four channels on the Black Spirit 200 combo give you a wide range of tonal options covering the greats of the last six decades.
Combined with built-in digital reverb, delay and modulation effects, these four all-analogue channels give you everything you need for the perfect tone.
The Hughes and Kettner Black Spirit 200 Combo also offers a sophisticated FX loop so you can connect your effects pedals and enjoy great results.
What’s more, you can save all your parameters (apart from Master Volume) in up to 128 presets for recall whenever you need them.
Get the perfect sound set up for any scenario, any guitar or even individual songs and have them saved onto your own personal library of tones.
It’s easy to recall your tones too – just connect separately available MIDI board such as the Hughes & Kettner FSM-432 Mk III and tap your chosen preset with your toe!
You’ll also be able to get the official Black Spirit 200 app for Android and iOS which you can use to create, edit, save and even share your favourite sounds via Bluetooth.
Using the Black Spirit 200 Remote App you can manage an unlimited number of presets whole visually monitoring all of the amp’s parameters in real time. You can even control the parameters in real time too!
You can back up all your favourite tones so you’ll never lose them and if you want to send your presets to a friend or band member you can do that via email.
Comprehensive Connectivity

One of the greatest features found on the rear is a Red Box AE+ DI. You can use this to choose from the sounds of eight different cabinets ranging from huge 4x12 stacks to compact 1x12 cabs.
This is great for studio recording or going straight into the desk when playing on stage so you can get a range of great sounds without having to take anything else along with you other than the Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 Combo amp.
Along with its amp head counterpart, the Black Spirit 200 Combo boasts a completely new kind of speaker output. Using a cabinet type switch, you can choose whether you want to play through a guitar speaker or a Full Range Flat Response (FRFR) cab.
There’s also an Output Power switch to limit the wattage in line with your location or the power capacity required for the cab you’re using.
