Rock n' Roll History Personified
With this Gibson Custom Shop '58 Les Paul Standard, you get a guitar with the feel of a modern Les Paul Standard but with a more traditional Custom Shop build quality.
Featuring a plain Maple Top, on a solid Mahogany back, with a Faded Tobacco finish, and a set of PAF-like Custom Buckers, this guitar manages to recapture the spirit of those much-coveted early Les Paul models and takes you back to the dawn of modern rock music.
PAF-Like Pickups
Recapturing the essence of the original Patent Applied For (PAF) humbuckers produced during the 1950s has been the goal for countless pickup makers since, but due the uneven handwound construction this has proven to be a problem. With the Custombuckers, Gibson have managed to get the closest approximation of this sound yet.
Whether it's those thick, dark-sounding neck pickup tones reminiscent of the most epic Slash guitar solo you want, or those biting bridge pickup sounds for the heaviest of guitar riffs, the Custombuckers have you covered, and remain articulate throughout, giving you that much-coveted vintage Gibson sound.
Attention to Detail
It isn't just the incredible playing experience offered by these guitars that make them so special, but the little details all play their part too. These details include faithfully recreated plastic parts, from the True Historic line, made from the exact same materials used on those original Les Paul models from the 50s and 60s, as well as the exact same kind of hide glue .
VOS Finish
The overall aesthetic of this guitar - referred to as VOS, or Vintage Original Spec - puts you in mind of a genuine original-era instrument that has been left safe in it's case for more than 50 years, one that's still in near immaculate condition, but which is slightly faded and worn looking.
