Constructing the Wolfgang Special
Basswood has been used for the body of the EVH Wolfgang Special. With its sweeping curves and elegantly arched top, the EVH Wolfgang Special looks great and is comfortable to hold.
The double cutaway design allows for easy reach of the higher frets too.
Cream body binding which beautifully contrasts with the Ice Blue Metallic finish, adds a premium aesthetic.
Attached to the body is a quartersawn maple neck which boasts a hand-rubbed satin finish for silky smooth playability.
The neck has also been carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen's own exacting specifications.
The ebony fretboard features a 12" - 16" compound radius which flattens out the higher up the neck you go.
As a result, your fretting hand will enjoy optimum playability everywhere on the neck.
Flagship Custom Designed Pickups
Giving this beast an almighty roar is a pair of flagship, custom designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 pickups.
Featuring alnico ii magnets, these humbuckers boast sweet and musical tone with a vintage character.
Furthermore, these pickups are mounted directly to the EVH Wolfgang Special's body. This gives you increased sustain and powerful yet articulate voicing.
Using the 3-position toggle, you can use either pickup individually or both at once.
You can further shape your sound with the Master and tone controls.
The volume control features a 500K EVH Bourns low friction pot along with a treble bleed circuit which retains all the crisp clarity of your tone, even as you roll off the volume.
The tone control has a 250K EVH Bourns high friction pot for great control over your sound without accidentally shifting your tone.
Premium Hardware
Up on the headstock of the EVH Wolfgang Special is a set of EVH-branded Gotoh tuners providing precise and secure tuning of your strings.
On the body, you'll find an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tuner which works with the Floyd Rose R2 locking nut to provide incredible tuning stability, precise intonation and enhanced sustain.
Of course, that Floyd Rose bridge offers incredible tremolo action too for all your deep dive bombs and expressive horse whinnies.
Furthermore, an EVH D-Tuna has also been installed on the EVH Wolfgang Special. As a result, you can retune to Drop-D and back with the flick of a finger!
