ESP's Ltd range of guitars have been a more affordable alternative for lovers of all things ESP for more than twenty years now, and despite their diminished price tag (in comparison to their Japanese and USA made counterparts) these Korean-made marvels are still top-notch and grace stages and studios the world over due to their versatility and tone.
Premium quality at an affordable price
This ESP Ltd H401QM FSB is constructed from a solid mahogany body with a gorgeous Flame Maple top and finished in Faded Sky Blue. The fast playing, thin U-Shaped neck and awesome EMG humbucking pickups make this the perfect guitar of choice rock and metal lead-players and riff-meisters, and the guitar's solid construction means that despite the elegant looks it can take a serious beating, making it ideal for touring guitarists and regular gigging.
The striking finish on the ESP Ltd H401QM FSB is a combination of the translucent faded sky blue finish and the wood grain of the exquisite flame-maple top. The black hardware just adds the perfect finishing touch, allowing the guitar to retain an air of elegance without being too garish.
Despite the obvious Rock and Metal connotations with the guitar's look and ESP's reputation, the pickups help to tell a slightly different story. Whilst the EMG 81 bridge pickup throws out the kind of high-output spank you'd expect from a guitar like this, the EMG 85 neck pickup is another animal altogether.
The 85 is constructed with two Alnico magnet-loaded coils with a wide aperture, allowing you to retain a chucnky low end and fatter top end, giving you a more natural tone and acting as the perfect choice for a bluesy rock solo, especially when partnered up with a hot-running valve amp with the drive bumped up almost to the point of breakup.
The 81 bridge pickup works best with high-volume overdrive settings, giving you a razor sharp attack and incredible sustain for those pesky lead breaks. The ceramic magnet housed in the pickup combines perfectly with the wide aperture steel poles to give you a fast attack with a nice, fat tone. As if that wasn't enough, the EMG 81 is also a relatively quiet humbucker, meaning that even when playing with really high-gain settings the amount of excess hiss and noise is minimal.
Despite the array of awesome electronics, premium quality adornments, and high-class quilted maple top, buying the ESP Ltd H401QM FSB won't require you to take out a second mortgage. In fact it's available now for less than £900, and here at PMT we have a range of finance options available to allow you to spread the payments out.
