A Perfect Recreation
As the KH-2 Vintage is a recreation of one of Hammett's most recognisable guitars, ESP wanted to ensure every aspect was detailed correctly.
With that in mind, they not only used the correct materials, hardware, and electronics that Kirk opted for in his own guitar. They even went as far as ageing the finish of the body, as well as recreating accurate "damage" spots on the finish.
As the perfect finishing touch, ESP even went as far as recreating accurately damaged versions of the infamous "Caution Hot" and "Kirks Guitar" Stickers.
Top Notch Construction
Don't let the "distressed" look of this guitar fool you: it's built as road-ready as you could wish for.
Featuring a lightweight, comfortably-curved Alder body, and a neck-through 3-piece Maple neck, this guitar offers a comfortable playing experience, every time you pick it up.
In addition to this, the neck has a thin "U" profile shape, which has been capped with a Rosewood fingerboard, that's just perfect for high-performance shredding.
As a finishing touch, this guitar some equipped with a Floyd Rose Original tremolo bridge, with corresponding locking Nut. This setup allows you to add inflections ranging from subtle pitch bends to outrageous dive bombs without compromising the guitar's tuning stability.
High Powered Electronics
For the pickups on this guitar, ESP have gone with the same configuration that Kirk himself uses - an EMG 60A at the neck, and EMG 81 at the bridge.
Due to its active nature, the EMG 60A neck humbucker packs a hell of a punch, and produces a balance of thick, boosted mids, big lows, and balanced highs. Thanks to the close aperture coils in this pickup, the model produces rich harmonic overtones with plenty of sustain - perfect for those creamy solo breaks.
For the bridge pickup - the EMG 81 - you get one of the most popular hard rock and metal pickups of all time. The powerful ceramic magnets in the EMG 81 produce a highly detailed tone, with plenty of high end cut and fluid sustain - ideal for lead licks, heavy riffs, and chugging power chords.
