North American Maple

DW have developed their own proprietary HVX Shell process which they’ve used in the creation of the DW Performance Series.

Consisting of grain orientation technology which involves alternating the grain of the plies to deliver a stronger more robust shell construction, this HVX process delivers low punchy tone with ample resonance and projection.

The shells of this DW Performance drum kit are constructed from 8 plies of 100% hand selected North American hard rock maple.

Suspension Tom Mounts

Both the 10” and 12” rack toms of this kit are fitted with DW’s patented STM system to provide precise tom placement without jeopardising the tom tone.

The DW suspension tom mount has been specifically designed to allow the drum to vibrate freely.

The mount attaches to the drum via 4 of the turret lugs to provide a strong and reliable hold without having to drill into the shell which would drastically affect the resonance.

This suspension system ensures the shell of the tom is allowed to resonant to its maximum whilst still being held securely in place.

The result is a tom placement you can trust and unimpeded tom tone you can rely on.

True Pitch Tuning Rods

All of the drums in this 4-piece shell pack are fitted with DW’s patented True Pitch Tuning tension rods to deliver more exact, longer lasting tuning.

The True Pitch rods feature 5mm threads rather than the 12/24 rods that come as standard on most drums.

What this means is that there’s 1 thread every 0.8mm on the True Pitch rods compared to 1 thread every 1.05mm on most other rods.

That works out as 20% more thread from a True Pitch Tuning Rod than a standard tension rod.

What that means for drummers is a drum kit that’s easier to tune, stays in tune longer and delivers more consistent tuning.

High-End Hardware

The hardware on all DW Performance drums is available exclusively in chrome.

The shells are adorned with quarter turret lugs which are a scaled down version of the famous round DW lug to provide an instantly recognisable aesthetic.

Each of the toms are fitted with graduated counter hoops to provide a versatile response from the shells. Each hoop is a chrome standard 2.3mm triple flanged.

The 16” floor tom comes complete with standard chrome plated steel 21” legs.

The bass drum features low mass die-cast claw hooks to provide consistent hold and reliable tuning.

Head Start

As with all DW drums, the DW Performance Chrome Shadow comes fitted with specially made Remo USA drumheads.

The bass drum has a coated/clear batter head with an inlay ring and has an ebony resonant vented logo head to ensure full punchy sound and a clean aesthetic.

The coated/clear heads are predominantly clear but incorporate a coated tone ring for just the right amount of muffling with plenty of resonance.
