With the recent release of Mother-32 and a handful of price drops, it's never been cheaper to buy a Moog analogue synth!

Moog synths buying guide

Great news for musicians who love synthesizers: it's never been cheaper to buy a great MOOG synth! Since the company released their first ever modular synthesizer back in 1964 (read our 50 Years of Moog article), Moog has been synonymous with the best and most desirable synths ever: from rock bands such as The Beatles, The Who and Black Sabbath, to prog-rock giants such as Rush and Pink Floyd, or newer acts such as Mastodon and Jack White, the sound of Moog synths has become as pervasive in popular music as that of Fender and Gibson guitars! There was just one problem, though: traditionally, the high prices of Moog gear meant a big chunk of the public wasn't able to afford their instruments! Thankfully, this is slowly changing and in recent years Moog has released a handful of more affordable analogue synths that in no way make compromises on quality. If you want that vintage Moog synth sound, now is the time to get it!

Prices correct as of October 2015:

Moog Mother-32 - only £499

The newest Moog synth is a superb piece of kit: Moog's first ever tabletop semi-modular analogue synthesizer, delivering a wide choice of connectivity for many hours (or should we say years?) of sonic exploration. It's classic Moog, through and through. It's no wonder Moog are also making available 2- and 3-tier rack kits for Mother-32... due to it's great price and vintage sounds, it's easy to picture some people buying two or more units, indeed!
