Record Store Day 2018 is on Saturday 21st April 2018 and will bring with it an array of absolutely essential releases from some of our favourite bands and musical artists. As most of us will be standing out in the cold getting ready to fight the masses for our 7-inch and 12 inch gems, it’s best to go prepared and have a list of the essential Record Store Day 2018 purchases in one hand while you fend off fellow punters with the other. So here’s our top 10 Record Store Day 2018 releases we think are 100% essential.

1. Led Zeppelin - Rock And Roll, Yellow 7” Single

Led Zeppelin - Rock And Roll, Yellow 7” Single

Well, let’s be honest, any new release from Led Zeppelin is an essential purchase. So, when we found out that Jimmy Page and his cohorts were celebrating their 50-year anniversary with a new, previously unreleased recording of ‘Rock and Roll’, naturally we geeked out. This year, ‘Rock and Roll’ will be printed as a Yellow 7 Single, with large hole and adaptor that can be removed, housed in a printed paperboard sleeve. The two tracks will be Side A: Rock And Roll (Sunset Sound Mix) / Side B: Friends (Olympic Studios Mix). Both tracks are previously unreleased and will surely excite Zeppelin fans. Get your Gibson Les Paul out and jam along!

2. Sigrid - Don't Kill My Vibe EP, 12” EP

Sigrid - Don't Kill My Vibe EP, 12” EP

Sigrid shot to fame with the unquestionably catchy single ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ back in 2017 and has enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity thanks to her catchy, pop anthems. Her debut EP 'Don't Kill My Vibe' will be released physically for the first time on heavyweight red vinyl with download card especially for Record Store Day. A perfect jumping on point for new listeners, especially useful in time for the festival season!

3. Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead - Dylan & The Dead, LP Vinyl

Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead - Dylan & The Dead, LP Vinyl

The album that completely split critic’s opinions down the middle gets the vinyl treatment for 2018. Originally released on February 6, 1989 by Columbia Records, the album features songs written by Dylan with the Grateful Dead providing accompaniment and is being re-released on Red & Blue coloured LP Vinyl. Although poorly received by some critics, this is a must have album for vinyl collectors and fans of either artist.

4. Daniel Wakeford - The Songs of Gigs, LP

Daniel Wakeford - The Songs of Gigs, LP

After capturing our hearts in the Undateables TV show, Daniel Wakeford has been capturing our ears as well with his smash debut album ‘Songs of Gigs’. This is now being re-released for the first time on LP and features an array of bonus tracks. Highlight tracks include: ‘I Love Girlfriend’ and ‘Playboy Girls’.

5. Courtney Barnett - City Looks Pretty/ Sunday Roast, 12”

Courtney Barnett - City Looks Pretty/ Sunday Roast, 12”

Ahead of her upcoming 2nd album ‘Tell Me How You really feel’ to be released on May 18th, Courtney Barnett will release new track 'City Looks Pretty' exclusively for Record Store Day 2018. In addition, the B-side will include new album track ‘Sunday Roast’ which is your chance to hear something off the new album before its released. This is exclusive, so don’t miss out!

6. Arcade Fire - Arcade Fire EP, 12” Vinyl EP

Arcade Fire - Arcade Fire EP, 12” Vinyl EP

In celebration of their current world tour, Arcade Fire re-release their debut EP for the first time on vinyl, allowing collectors (like me) to finally rest, now that we have EVERYTHING! This will be released as a 12” transparent Blue coloured & individually numbered EP, with augmented Gold artwork. Considering this was only ever available as a CD and sold at live gigs, this is your chance to complete your collection.

7. Run The Jewels - Stay Gold Collectors Box, 12” Vinyl Box Set

Run The Jewels - Stay Gold Collectors Box, 12” Vinyl Box Set

Their unstoppable, meteoric rise has seen Run The Jewels become a household name across not only the Rap and Hip-Hop lovers, but music lovers of all genres. To celebrate the upcoming release of the coveted RTJ4 (hopefully announced soon) Killer Mike and El-P have created a highly collectible 12” Vinyl box set. Here’s what the official RSD site says: Limited to 5000 units worldwide. Incudes 12 EP on etched clear vinyl with custom Marvel Comics branded artwork. Custom metal box set includes space to store your copies of RTJ1 -3 plus space for the upcoming RTJ4! Also included is a custom RTJ turntable slip mat with images on both sides, collectible poster and a sticker set for the kids. – We can’t wait to get hold of this!

8. Jimi Hendrix - Mannish Boy / Trash Man, 7” Single

Jimi Hendrix - Mannish Boy / Trash Man, 7” Single

The Jimi Hendrix cover of Muddy Waters’ ‘Mannish Boy’ gets its own release this Record Store Day 2018. This 7” single includes a rare outtake of Trashman and is the first recording session featuring bassist Billy Cox & drummer Buddy Miles. For fans of the album ‘Both Sides of the Sky’ this is a great little addition and shows us an insight into the recording sessions around that time. Crack out the Fuzz Face and Stratocaster!

9. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World (Remixes)

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World (Remixes)

Both Oasis and Noel Gallagher fans will always appreciate the amount of extra tracks, B-sides and remixes available after an album is released. The Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World (Remixes) is released as a 12" single on Monochrome Vinyl and features Andrew Weatherall and Mike Pickering/Graeme Park Remixes of the album track. That artwork though – beautiful! Fan of Noel Gallagher? Check out our Noel Gallagher gear guide here.

10. The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request, 1 x LP Clear Vinyl

The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request, 1 x LP Clear Vinyl

The Stones’ answer to Sgt. Peppers gets the vinyl re-release treatment here and we couldn’t be happier! This classic album is being reproduced on clear, heavyweight vinyl, complete with original album packaging with stunning lenticular (‘3-D’ sleeve) front panel cover and has been remastered by legendary Bob Ludwig. This is going to sound amazing!
