We take a quick look at what gear our favourite bands used at Glastonbury 2017. Whether you want to know how Radiohead got their sound, need to know what guitar Dave Grohl plays with the Foo Fighters or you simply have to know what guitar Ed Sheeran was playing, our Glastonbury 2017 gear guide has it all!
For music geeks like us, one of the cool things about watching Glastonbury 2017 is seeing what gear our musical heroes are playing. Us mere mortals look on whilst these gods of rock and pop turn a Telecaster into an instrument of pure musical genius, take a keyboard and sculpt immense soundscapes and make amplifiers roar like we’ve never heard before. Sorry… I got a bit carried away there. Well, either way we like looking at what the bands are playing so we can find out exactly how they get the sounds they do. So, today we’re doing a quick Glastonbury 2017 gear guide and taking a look at what the headliners and some of our favourite bands from the weekend chose to bring to the stage.
Radiohead Glastonbury 2017 Gear Guide
Well, we had to start with a Radiohead gear guide didn’t we?! Radiohead were by far the most anticipated band of the weekend, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Now we couldn’t go through everything the band used on stage, but we can certainly give you a whistle stop highlight! So let’s take a quick look at the gear we could spot on stage.

Colin kept it simple for this show, using his White Fender Precision bass

Foo Fighters Glastonbury 2017 Gear Guide
After they had to pull out of their 2015 Glastonbury headline slot when Dave Grohl broke his leg in Sweden, Foo Fighters fans were chomping at the bit to see them finally headline the worlds best festival. They may have turned up two years late for their show, but when they took that stage, they absolutely owned it! Here's some of the gear the Foo Fighters used on stage at Glastonbury 2017.
What guitars did Dave Grohl play at Glastonbury 2017?
Dave kept it simple at this show, using his signature Gibson Dave Grohl ES-335 Electric Guitar in Metallic Pelham Blue as well as Gold Metallic. This model is based on the Trini Lopez models and unfortunately, both his signature guitars and the Trini Lopez models are both no longer in production. However, if you want a similar sound, you can't go wrong with a Gibson ES-335 2016

Ed Sheeran Glastonbury 2017 Gear Guide
Ed Sheeran did an amazing job of headlining Glastonbury 2017, and considering he did the entire gig (almost) on his own, with nothing more than an acoustic guitar, a couple of loop pedals and a keyboard - it was an impressive feat to say the least. This year, the Martin Ed Sheeran Divide Signature Edition 3 Acoustic Guitar
got an outing and it looked great on stage. We've covered everything Ed Sheeran plays in our Ed Sheeran Gear Guide
, but take a look at what the man used on stage this year.

during 'Shape Of You' - simple yet extremely effective![/caption]

Ed brought up traditional Irish band Beoga, to play with him. The piano player was seen with a Nord Stage
- an industry standard.[/caption]

Gear highlights from Glastonbury 2017
There were so many different bands at Glastonbury 2017, that listing them all and all their gear would be impossible. So we've decided to pick a few of our favourite artists who took the stage at Worthy farm and see what type of gear they brought with them.
The National using Moog... in a really interesting way
Aaron Dessner from The National used a hollowbody guitar (that we couldn't quite catch the brand of) in a way that would make guitarists cringe - banging it against the floor and manipulating the feedback through his pedals. The interesting part was that he ran the pedals through his Moog synth
to make the feedback more musical. It sounded great, but hitting that headstock against the floor made me cringe!
Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil played a Custom Fender
Simon Neil has been loyal to his Fender Stratocaster set up since day one, and his collection seems to grow with every album. As the chords rang out for their anthemic set opener 'Wolves Of Winter', a two tone Fender stratocaster caught our eye. The baby blue paint job revealed a sunburst finish underneath, leading us to believe that Simon had got himself a new Fender Custom Shop '57 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Blue over Sunburst
but with a rosewood neck! It looked and sounded amazing!
Jamie XX Glastonbury 2017 set up
The XX stormed their set at Glastonbury 2017, and blew everyone away with hits from their stellar career. However, it was Jamie XX's gear that really got us interested. Considering he's fairly protective of his gear, we were surprised to see the following photo from Fact Mag showcasing his entire Glastonbury set up.
