The Roland Fantom 7 is a hugely powerful all-in-one Expandable Workstation Keyboard, Synthesizer and Sequencer designed to serve as the new creative hub of your stage and studio setup.
A versatile, powerful synthesizer for any musical scenario
The Fantom 7 fuses a seamless workflow with Roland’s very latest sound engines, and deep computer integration to spawn their most powerful keyboard to date. Created to meet the workflow and needs of today’s most demanding professional musicians, the new Fantom series was designed in a unique way that allows continuous development and expansion with new Roland content and technologies. This means the Fantom can provide users with a future proof platform capable of complex live performances, creative studio production and song writing in one slick package.
The Fantom-7 hardware features Roland's most expressive 76-note keybed yet, with a semi-weighted action and channel aftertouch, while its synthesizer editing controls are High-Resolution with 1024 steps of adjustment for precise control over your sounds. There is a huge amount of connectivity available with XLR/Jack Audio Inputs and Outputs and options that allow Fantom to interface with computers, MIDI devices, and analog equipment via CV/Gate.
These features place Fantom as the central hub in your setup; opening up new creative dimensions and effects as you play, easily tailored via an intuitive touch screen interface and comprehensive control panel.
Powerful ZEN-Core DSP Sound Engine
Fantom features Roland’s latest and most powerful sound engine; Zen-Core. Leveraging decades of research and development, Zen-Core uses cutting edge Virtual Analog Modelling, PCM Synthesis techniques and lush DSP effects to dish out inspiring and authentic electronic, acoustic, and hybrid sounds by the bucketload.
Fantom packs a DSP punch, powered by 4x Roland Behaviour Modelling Core (BMC) Chips. This means players can focus on music, not rationing processing power. It’s possible to run 16 parts at once, each with its own effects, complete with full patch remain for seamless transitions. There’s never any worrying about audio dropouts between patch changes on stage or limits on creating complex patches.
Zen-Core is a platform that allows users to combine different sound engines built upon its framework covering multiple synthesis and sampling technologies for new and unusual sounds, while also letting them take advantage of new sound expansions and capabilities as they arrive.

Return of the Fantom - A Legend, Re-Born
Originally introduced in 2004, the original Roland Fantom-X workstation set a new benchmark for large-scope keyboards for the stage and studio. The new Fantom series elevates the design, sonic potential and usability with the modern musician firmly in mind. The Roland Fantom now embeds itself as a viable industry standard for stage performers and studio session musicians that want a do-it-all keyboard with unrivalled potential.
The new Fantom series boasts a purposeful design and built from premium materials. It is made of tough metal with high-grade components throughout. Everything about it is sturdy and built to withstand the perils of live gigs and life on the road.
From the slight curvature of the top-panel labels for rear connections, to the informative RGB-lit controls and buttons, FANTOM facilitates creativity and eliminates frustration. This is a decade in the making, with no stone left unturned by the keyboard master designers at Roland!
Create Quicker
The focus of the Fantom-7 is primarily on pro musicians being able to create and play without diving into complex menus. Your sounds, patterns, and performance layouts are arranged into custom creative spaces called Scenes. A Scene can be an entire song, section of a song, or a starting point with your favourite sounds laid out just how you like. Scenes can be chained together and changed instantly with no gaps or glitches.
By removing the technical limitations and streamlining the 'modeless' user interface, Roland have designed Fantom to always run in a creative mode. It can be fully customized and instantly reconfigured in an unlimited number of ways, allowing you to craft a truly unique signature sound.
Furthermore, Fantom also comes equipped with RGB pads, a classic TR-REC style sequencer, real-time pattern recording with piano-roll editing, and a grid for recording and launching clips. You can create patterns on Fantom in a variety of ways, including real and step-time polyphonic sequencing. The TR-REC pattern sequencer is perfect for rhythmic parts - as used on Roland's iconic drum machines like the TR-808 and TR-909.
With the intuitive top-panel interface and touch screen, Fantom is ready to roll whenever inspiration strikes.
Sonic Superpower
Powered by 4x Roland Behaviour Modelling Core (BMC) DSP processors that offer an incredible amount of processing power, Fantom features multiple different sound engines covering all musical styles and with a boot up time of under 40 seconds for peace of mind in high pressure situations.
Zen-Core Synthesizer System
Zen-Core is built upon Roland's rich synthesizer legacy that includes some of the most influential synths of all time, and in Fantom it combines Roland latest and greatest digital technologies into one musical hub with unlimited potential.
The Zen-Core synth engine combines virtual analog modelling, PCM synthesis, high-quality DSP effects and 256-note polyphony to offer a stunning selection of sounds covering all musical types and fantastic sound design potential.
A Zen-Core tone is based on partials. Each partial starts with a discrete synth voice - complete with oscillator, filter, amplifier, dual LFO and effects. You can have up to four partials in a single tone, and a Scene can contain up to 16 tones for complex layers, splits, and sequenced parts. This means a since Scene can offer up to 64-oscillators and 128 LFO’s all operating at once!
V-Piano Technology
Considered by many as the king of instruments, acoustic piano sits at the heart of the creative process for composers across a range of musical genres. FANTOM contains Roland's famous V-Piano technology which uses cutting edge modelling techniques to re-create the true sound and feel of an acoustic Grand Piano without the use of samples and with unlimited polyphony.
As used on Roland's industry-standard Stage Pianos like the RD-2000, the Fantom's gorgeous Piano sound becomes a centrepiece attraction for songwriters, stage performers and more.
SuperNatural Acoustic
Fantom features a wide selection of SuperNatural acoustic instrument sounds that combine high resolution instrument samples with behaviour modelling for incredibly lifelike performance. Strings, choirs, harps, solo brass, keys and woodwind tones truly come to life like never before.
Model Expansions
To say Roland have made some of the most influential synths of all time is no understatement. Model Expansions for Fantom bring some of their most sought-after synths right under your fingertips. Complete and authentic recreations of Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-8P and SH-101 are available for Fantom to download from the Roland Cloud platform, free to Fantom owners for a limited time. Featuring both modern and original pre-sets, combine these classic sounds in Scenes with the luxury of more polyphony and expanded parameter ranges.
Multi-Sampling
Sample to the keyboard, pads or direct to the 2GB internal memory to create your custom sampled sounds. Fantom allows you to create detailed multi-samples with up to 4 layers and 352 samples per tone! Use the free SoundFont convertor software from the Roland website to convert your existing SF2 sample libraries to use within Fantom.
32-Band Vocoder
No live keys performance is complete without an incredible Vocoder and the Fantom 32-band Vocoder delivers this in abundance. Connect a microphone direct to the Fantom’s twin XLR inputs to get started (48V Phantom Power built is supported).
Expand and Collaborate
A true unique benefit of being part of the Roland Zen-Core Synthesizer System is that sounds made using this sound engine can be shared between compatible Roland hardware and software products that feature the same technology. This makes collaboration between musicians easier than ever, and means the Fantom can be greatly enhanced and expanded with new sounds over time. Over 50 new sound packs are already available via Roland Cloud covering all kinds of styles and genres with many more to come. As an expandable platform, the Fantom is being actively developed for by Roland with new features and technologies being added at regular intervals.
Expressive Playability
The new Fantom Series employs Roland's most expressive keybeds to date, with this 76-note model utilising a brand new semi-weighted key action. The way an instrument feels under your fingers, and how it helps you express yourself, is vital. Roland Fantom focuses on the experience of playing, from its immersive keyboard action, to its arsenal of performance controls.
Seamless USB Integration
FANTOM doesn’t just work with computers - it fully integrates. Under the hood sits a high-quality 16x3 Stereo audio interface, making recording audio clips and ideas a breeze. Fantom can also control DAWs and plugins from its 7" Colour Touchscreen. It can integrate soft synths into Scenes, and send parts composed on FANTOM directly to your DAW.
