What's a 5-String Bass?
Typically a bass guitar with come to you equipped with 4 strings - tuned to E, A, D, and G respectively (thickest to thinnest). However, with a 5 String bass, you get (as you guessed) a 5th string, in the shape of a Low B, which is thicker and deeper than even the E on a 4-string.
The addition of an extra string gives you the option of an even wider-range of notes to play, as well as opening up a host of musical styles - especially from heavier-sounding genres.
