A 10 Year Celebration Of The Industry Standard Bass Preamp
Legend has it that 10 years ago a little boutique effects pedal maker from Finland set the low-end world alight with the release of the incredible Microtubes B7K - a powerful 4-band EQ'd Preamp pedal with built-in CMOS overdrive circuitry, that had been crafted specifically for use with bass guitar.The hand-made Microtubes B7K (along with it's little brother, the B3K) took the bass-playing world by storm, and soon became one of the most popular and coveted bass guitar pedals available.
Now, to help celebrate that incredible achievement, Darkglass Electronics have released this limited run 10th Anniversary edition to remind everyone just why it's been so popular this past decade.
Unsurpassed Quality
One of the main reasons for the B7K's desirability and success over the past decade is because it doesn't compromise the original sound of your bass.
Instead it simply enhances its presence int he mix! The Microtubes B7K takes the powerful saturation circuit from the B3K, then adds a 4-band active EQ, parallel output and balanced line driver, giving you even more versatility than you could hope for.
Easy To Use
The controls of the Microtubes B7K are fairly straightforward to follow. First there's Level, which lets you set the volume of the overdriven signal.
- Drive is where you'd set the amount of saturation in the overdriven signal.
- Blend mixes both the clean input and the overdrive signal (clean signal remains at unity gain throughout, whilst the overdrive is set via the Level control).
- Then you have the 4-band EQ of Low, Low Mids, Hi Mids and Treble, which each giving you +-12dB control over each respective frequency range. The Grunt switch sets the level of low frequency content that you want saturing, giving you the choice of three different boost levels.
- The Grunt switch lets you choose between three bands to select the amount of low frequency content to saturate
- Next there's the Attack Switch, which acts in a similar way to Grunt but with the Treble content rather than low frequencies, giving you exquisite control over this section of the signal which is perfect when playing with new strings or cabinets with tweeters.
- Finally, there's a Direct Output - a balanced version of the standard output socket, perfect for use with a PA or studio mixing setup.
