Laser Guided Microphone – The Aston Starlight
Aston microphones approached designing a condenser microphone like nobody had done before.
As a result, the Aston Starlight was designed from the ground up and treated as an instrument in itself.
The product of working with a panel of top audio professionals and combining attention to detail with high quality British manufacturing, the Aston Starlight is seriously impressive and has been nominated for several awards.
Nominated for and winning several awards, Aston Microphones are truly something else.

Ground Up Microphone Research, Design and Development
In order to create the best possible condenser microphone, Aston rejected existing concepts.
Starting from scratch, Aston approached designing the Aston Starlight microphone in a totally new way.
Through meticulous design and fantastic manufacturing quality and double blind listening tests with a panel of over 50 top producers, the Aston Starlight was born.
Many capsule designs were trialled with the panel of audio professionals hand-picking the 20mm capsule found in the Aston Starlight today.
One incredibly unique feature on the Aston Starlight is its laser targeting system.
Using this laser, you can easily set and recall microphone positions in the studio or on stage.
With the Aston Microphone's laser precision you can position the mic with ease saving an incredible amount of time.
This is great for setting up at gigs or recording in the studio where time is money.
Sintered Metal Head
Rare in the world of microphones, Aston Microphones pushed the sintered metal technology for great results.
The Aston Starlight microphone is the first ever microphone that uses a sintered head to tune the acoustic space around the capsule.
Testing a range of sintered head densities and the sizes of the tiny metal spheres, Aston found the perfect combination for the best possible sound.
As a result, it achieves near perfect acoustic response from the capsule in every single Aston Starlight microphone.
Despite the head being virtually indestructible and having an extremely solid appearance, it is actually acoustically porous.
Furthermore, the sintered head provides an almost perfectly linear off-axis response with virtually no high-frequency roll off when you move away from the on-axis plane.
While the frequency response of other microphones changes when being move off-axis, colouring your sound, this isn't so with the Aston Starlight. However you position the Aston Starlight, you get the true sound of your source across the entire pick-up pattern.
Great Style and Incredible Durability
A great by-product of the Aston Microphone design is beautifully engineered looks. Designed for pure performance, the Aston Starlight is beautiful in its simplicity.
What's more, the Aston Starlight's solid stainless steel chassis has been tumbled for four hours. The end result is a beautifully finished condenser microphone that is extremely rugged and reliable.
Incredible Circuitry with 3 Modes
Aston’s Starlight microphone utilises three different circuit paths, effectively making it three microphones in one!
For the perfect tone response, you can choose between Vintage, Modern and Hybrid settings so you’re set to record anything from guitar cabs, drums, vocals or strings.
Whatever the application, you will find the Aston Starlight delivers incredible performance above and beyond what you expect from microphones at this microphone’s modest price.
A fine-tuned and discrete mic amp circuit combined with high-spec components ensures an extremely sensitive yet low noise design that gives you huge amounts of headroom.
This means that the Aston Starlight microphone can handle anything from extremely quiet to very loud sound sources, all without compromising performance.
Also, thanks to the Starlight’s high output level, your microphone preamps can operate with lower gain for optimal distortion performance.
Altering the response of the capsule without adding any unwanted noise to the circuit, the Starlight’s voicing control utilises inductive active filters at the front-end of the microphone, meaning that voice switching is practically the equivalent of changing the capsule, giving you completely different tonal characteristics.
