Shavo Odadjian, best known for his work as bassplayer with System of a Down, is a long-time fan of Ashdown bass amplifiers, and has been consistently using them since 2002. So Ashdown decided it was time he had his name on one of their products: introducing the Ashdown HEAD-22 Shavo Signature 600w Rackmount Head!
Premium-Quality Signature Amp
Built upon the solid foundations of Shavo's favourite ABM 600 EVO IV, and with aesthetics inspired by the Geezer Butler signature "Head of Doom", the new Ashdown HEAD-22 is a stunning reminder of just what the company is capable of.
Featuring a 600 watt Solid State power section, a 12AX7 powered valve preamp, on-board Compression, Sub-Octave Generator, and a 9-band EQ, alongside plenty of connectivity options, the HEAD-22 would make a fantastic amp for any aspiring or experience professional.

Tonally Versatile
Just like the flagship ABM EVO IV lineup, the Ashdown HEAD-22 comes complete with some of the best tone-shaping options available in a bass amp.
First of all there's the 9-band EQ (yes, nine), which offers controls for not just the standard Bass, Middle and Treble EQ bands, but also has six sliders for the frequency ranges inbetween. These sliders cover pin-point cut and boost options for 100Hz, 180Hz, 340Hz, 1.3kHz, 2.6kHz, and 5kHz.
In addition to this there's the famed ABM 'One Knob' Sub-Harmonic generator control, which adds an octave below the notes you play, allowing you to really fill out your sound.
And finally, last but not least, there's also a 'One Knob' Dynamic Compressor control, that will help you to fill out the mix.
Plenty of Connectivity Options
As if all of that wasn't enough, the Ashdown HEAD-22 also comes complete with a plethora of connectivity options, aside from the standard Instrument In and Speaker Out sockets. These include a transparent FX Loop, Tuner Out, Line Out, Line In, and even a Footswitch Socket for you to connect an FS-4 foot switch (not supplied).
So... Why 22?
The answer to that lies with Shavo himself. Apparently he has a close connection with the number 22, and has always considered it to be lucky. He was born on the 22nd April, Married on the 22nd May, formed System of a Down aged 22 - he even regularly wears a jersey on-stage sporting the number 22!
