A great example of Yamaha’s incredible A-Series, the A1R is a brilliantly crafted electro-acoustic guitar with great playability, a great look and the cutting-edge Studio Response Technology pickup system.
Dreadnaught Electro-Acoustic Guitar
Yamaha have approached the A1R with a view to creating the perfect all-rounder, workhorse electric acoustic guitar, designing it to be suitable for all applications so you don’t need to take multiple guitars on the road with you; just your trusty Yamaha A1R.
A performance level guitar, the A1R has a dreadnaught style body allowing for deep, booming low end and great volume.
A cutaway design to the body has been incorporated to make playing of the higher frets much easier; perfect for adventurous arpeggios, solos and other lead guitar playing.
Seen here in a beautiful, natural gloss finish – the A1R has fantastic looks to match the incredible craftsmanship involved in the making of this instrument.
Great Choice of Woods
A Solid Sitka Spruce has been used for the top. It has great qualities making it perfect for use as a resonating wood in guitars such as its broad dynamic range and crisp articulation making it suitable for all styles of acoustic guitar playing.
The back, sides are Rosewood and the neck has been crafted from Mahogany and the guitar features a classic Rosewood fingerboard. Being pretty much the “go-to” wood for fretboards. Being naturally oiled, delivering a warm tone and soft feel, Rosewood has a number of great qualities that have made it extremely popular with luthiers and guitar players alike.
Ebony has been used for the bridge; offering optimum transfer of string vibration to the solid Sitka Spruce resonating top of the A1R.
SRT (Studio Response Technology) Pickup System
Making use of advanced digital signal processing and decades of research and development in the world of audio technology and recording techniques; Yamaha have developed the SRT pickup and preamp system. The Studio Response Technology system delivers natural, studio-quality acoustic guitar tone.
Emulating high-end studio microphones used in world-classic recording spaces, the SRT system brings an incredible sound to your amplified acoustic performance that is normally reserved for professional recording engineers.
A piezo pickup sits under the saddle, and utilising Yamaha’s proprietary SRT pickup technology it uses individual elements for each string resulting in an extremely clear, ultra-wide bandwidth signal with incredible dynamic response and tonal accuracy above and beyond what you can expect from a standard ribbon-type piezo pickup.
The SRT System66 Preamp. The preamp gives you a number of options to enhance your guitar’s sound and get the most out of your performance while staying true to the guitar’s individual acoustic qualities.
A built-in chromatic tuner allows you to perfectly tune your guitar at your convenience without having to carry around a separate, external tuner. A large, bright display makes it easy to tune, regardless of lighting conditions on stage.
Built-in three band EQ allows adjustment of the low, mid and high frequencies so you can tailor your output and get it just right while another dial allows control of the overall volume and a handy battery indicator light lets you know when it’s time to replace the battery.
An AMF, or Adjustable Midrange Frequency, slider allows you to select the centre frequency of the band of frequencies affected by the ‘MID’ equaliser control and gives you a range of 80Hz to 10kHz.
Versatile, High Quality, Great Sounding Guitar
The A1R is the culmination of Yamaha’s over 45 years of experience in guitar building. Combining expert recording research and guitar development, Yamaha have developed a true all-rounder in the A1R which comes with a case.
Superb guitar craftsmanship, high quality woods and cutting edge pickup and preamp technology make the A1R an incredible guitar that you will enjoy for years to come.
