Taylor's recent revoicing of the 500 series has vastly improved the tone and projection of the Grand Symphony 516ce, which now benefits from an optimised forward bracing pattern and an upgraded ES2 Electronics System. The 516ce also features a rubbed brown stain finish, slightly darker than your standard natural spruce top, for that extra aesthetic appeal.
Mahogany’s meaty midrange and fundamental focus take on another level of boldness and depth, especially in the lower midrange, with the spruce-top Grand Symphony 516ce. Stronger strummers and heavier-handed players will appreciate the earthy, full-bodied tone this has to offer. Mahogany doesn’t produce a lot of ringing overtones, so the resulting tone is quite dry and woody, ideal for more rootsy styles of music.
The neo-vintage appointment package includes an grained ivoroid rosette, grained ivoroid binding, and a Century fretboard inlay. The slightly steeper slope of the venetian cutaway offers plenty of upper fret access, and adds a sophisticated touch.
