Overview

The Epiphone Masterbilt series can trace its roots as far back as the early 1930's. Utilising historic construction techniques and materials, the DR-500MCE is a modern electro acoustic with its own vintage voice.

Buy this Epiphone electro-acoustic from us online or at one of our PMT Stores, and claim a FREE Epiphone accessory kit! This offer is valid during October 2016 only, so hurry up! For more details, read our blog.

Want a distinctively vintage sounding guitar with all-solid tonewoods at a reasonable price? Meet the DR-500MCE electro acoustic from Epiphone.

The solid tonewoods of a Mahogany body and a Sitka Spruce top ensures a deep, consistent tone, unlike cheaper artificial woods found in other guitars. The natural voice of a Dreadnought body offers plenty of low-mid warmth which sounds great when paired with a solo vocal, or as part of a band. As a modern touch on this classic acoustic, the DR-500MCE features a sophisticated single cutaway for easy upper fret access, and comes with an eSonic2 preamp system.

While many other guitars in this price class use pressed backs, spliced neck joints and even artificial wood backs and sides, you can be assured that every Masterbilt holds true to it's all solid wood promise. The 25.5" scale Mahogany neck joins the body at the 14th fret and is adorned with carefully cut "split-diamond" pearl fretboard inlays. The historic "off-set" headstock has a "stickpin" headstock inlay along with a 1.68" bone nut. Players looking for vintage tone and vibe will appreciate the handcrafted dovetail neck joint and hide-glue construction as seen in all classic '30s era acoustic guitars.

First released in June 1931, the original Epiphone Masterbilts made a big impression on musicians from all styles of music and the new Masterbilts have done the same. The original Epiphone Masterbilt catalogue made the promise: "The possessor of an EPIPHONE instrument has the assurance that every possible precaution has been taken to build instruments for lifetime performance and pleasure." And they still make that promise!
