Big Gig Cardiff

The Welsh music scene is doing well at the moment! Late last year, we've opened our PMT Cardiff store, bang in the heart of the Welsh capital. It's great to part of such a vibrant scene, and that's why, this year, we're sponsoring the Big Gig, the city's best and most credible music talent competition.

2016 looks set to be another hit for the Welsh talent search. Entries are now open for the competition which has helped acts such as Rusty Shackle and Maddie Jones to become established on the music scene and the live semi-finals and final will take place in June and July.

Bands who are shortlisted will get the opportunity to play at legendary Clwb Ifor Bach in front of well-respected music industry professionals.

The overall winner will receive a prize package designed to help them further their career in the music industry including recording and rehearsal time at Music Box Studios working with REM producer Charlie Francis, an interview and coverage with Media Wales, a headline gig promoted by Newsoundwales, a support gig at Clwb Ifor Bach, and new for 2016, £1000 worth of kit donated by PMT (Professional Music Technology) and world renowned audio brand Shure.

The competition is now open to all artists aged 14 and over from across South Wales. Applications are now open, and will be closed at 5pm on 20 May 2016.

The 10 shortlisted acts will go on to compete in two semi-finals 22-23 June with the final staged at Clwb Ifor Bach on 15 July.
