Heavy-Metal gods Mastodon are one of the most innovative and influential bands in the genre, right now. So it's no wonder there's a strong interest in Mastodon-related signature gear: both Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds have Lace Sensor signature humbuckers.

Gibson has also released the stunning Bill Kelliher Golden Axe Les Paul Gold, which is one of the most unique Les Paul models available. Now, it's Brent Hinds' turn: the Mastodon lead singer and guitarist gets his first signature guitar, by Epiphone. Modern legend Hinds has been honoured with both a Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award and by Guitar World for his ferocious guitar chops in Mastodon, and has even appeared in the hit cable tv series, Game of Thrones. It took a while, but his signature guitar was certainly worth the wait:

Epiphone Brent Hinds Interview & Video

Epiphone has recently interview Brent Hinds, visiting him at his home in Atlanta, Georgia. When asked about what he thought about his new signature Flying-V, he replied:

"What went through my mind? What went through my mind is I should have had one when I was 30, not when I was 42. They took their sweet time! I'm just kidding. I love Flying Vs. They're cooler than all the other guitars--that's why I love them."

The design process fro his signature model was pretty straight-forward, but didn't exactly go to plan. Which, it turns out, was not a band thing...

"I just said here is the one to copy - now take all the radius specs of it and make it exactly like this one, you bunch of geniuses" said Hind, "And they sent me about about 3 or 4 wrong ones... But I ended up liking those more. And now it's perfect. Like I said, they are a bunch of geniuses. That's the way it works sometimes."
