Yolanda Charles is one of the best and most respected bassists working in music today, so make sure not to miss her bass clinic at PMT Birmingham on Tuesday 29th September!
Yolanda has played with legends such as Paul Weller, Mick Jagger, BB King, Roger Daltrey, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison, and in addition to work as a session player, Yolanda has written music for almost as long as she's been playing. Her first album (under the Mamayo banner) was released in 2003 and recently the 'Mamayo project' has expanded to the organizing of live events showcasing the best bass-playing talent from the UK, Europe and beyond.
At the PMT Birmingham event, Yolanda will be joined by Paloma Faith's drummer Gareth Brown and by Rob Harris, who has played guitar with the likes of Jamiroquai, Mika, Gary Numan and Kyle Minogue. The funk-fusion act will deliver some deeply groovy, soulful tunes with real style, as showcased on her 2012 album Funk In The Third Quarter.
Yolanda is an Elixir Strings user, and in this video she explains why she loves them... besides showcasing some seriously funky chops!
Her bass clinic at PMT Birmingham will be a really awesome event, truly not to be missed by bass players in the region. Please register to guarantee a place. Just click here.
