The Roland AIRA series has been extremely popular since it was first released, and now SubBass are offering the world's first ever AIRA Academy. Students will progress through a 16-hour course covering essential production techniques including synthesis, beat creation, sequencing, arrangement and effects.
The inaugural course – AIRA 101 – will be taught by Fabio Lendrum, the fast-rising DJ/Producer whose work has been championed by key music industry players including Pete Tong and MistaJam. Fabio’s busy DJ schedule has seen him play sets at Fabric, Matter and XOYO, along with radio airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM.
PMT SPECIAL OFFER!
The course costs £375 full price, but we joined with SubBass to offer 10% off the fee! Simply enter our promo code AiraPMT when booking your place, here.
The AIRA range of music production equipment includes the TR-8 Rhythm Performer, the reimagined versions of Roland’s classic TR-808/909 drum machines, the SYSTEM-1 Plug Out synth, which recreates some of Roland’s classic analogue synths that are still used by producers all over the world, the TB-3 Touch Bassline Synth - a remake of the very famous TB-303, which was the synth famous for making acid house back in the 80’s and the VT-3 Voice Transformer - the Vocal Transformer which is a descendant of the Roland BOSS VT-1.
Launched last year, the AIRA family was an immediate hit with producers thanks to flexible, hands-on control and easy integration in DJ sets. The students will be learning on the same AIRA gear used by artists ranging from Todd Terry and DJ Pierre to SBTRKT, Eats Everything, Goldie and of course, the legendary Afrika Bambaataa.
Roland’s education consultant, David Barnard, commented:
“Roland’s AIRA range is an exciting platform for developing the next generation of electronic music producers. I‘m delighted to welcome SubBass as the world’s first AIRA Academy and look forward to developing a range of courses that balance technical knowledge with musical know-how. The first course, AIRA 101, is designed and delivered by SubBass’s Fabio Lendrum and covers the essentials of electronic music production. Students will graduate with a deep understanding of how to build their own tracks from the ground up. Our aim is to unlock the creative process and give musicians the freedom and confidence to bring their ideas to life.”
The AIRA family keeps growing, with the recent additions of the MX-1 Mixer and the new AIRA modular products, so this course is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the basics (and more!) of what AIRA has to offer.
