Red is the new Black! Nord makes some of the most popular professional keyboards available today, and the brand is as commonly spotted on stages around the world as Fender or Gibson. We look at two products now in stock at PMT Online and PMT Stores - the new Nord Electro 5 and the Stage 2 HA88 to find out why...
Chances are, if you've been to any major gig, attended a music festival or watched some live music on TV in the past few years, you'll might have noticed an unmistakable red Nord keyboard on stage. Today, Nord is as ubiquitous as Fender or Gibson as a brand adopted by many big artists.
The new Nord Electro 5 is the latest addition to the Nord family and there's no doubt it'll prove as popular as previous models. Since its introduction in 2001, the Nord Electro has been the natural choice for musicians in need of authentic emulations of classic electro mechanical and acoustic instruments, such as the legendary Hammond B3, Vox Continental or a Farfisa organ, in a portable and easy to use package.
These vintage instruments are part of rock'n'roll history, thanks to songs such as the Small Faces' Tin Soldier, with its immortal Hammond organ intro:
But while vintage keyboards have a certain mojo about them, they're not very practical or versatile enough for the modern player, and even if you are lucky enough to own one, it's not the best idea to take it on the road! That's why Nord keyboards became so popular in the past few years - the Electro range faithfully recreates all the best keyboards and electric pianos of the past, in one convenient and versatile instrument! That's why even the most seasoned pros, such as Dr. John (pictured) would rather use a Nord on stage than a real vintage instrument.
NORD ELECTRO 5 FEATURES
But a Nord keyboard doesn't just replicate sounds of the past, it offers much more than a vintage instrument could. Features of the the new Nord Electro 5 includes greatly expanded memory, the added ability to split and layer, and a live focused program section, which makes the Electro 5 is a highly refined, focused yet flexible stage keyboard.
The organ section of the Electro 5 features Nord C2D B3 Tone Wheel simulation, Physical Drawbars, Principal Pipe Organ model and Farfisa and Vox simulations, B3 Tone Wheel Bass, Vintage 122 Rotary Speaker simulation from Nord C2D and Mount for Half-Moon Switch for Rotary Speaker control (5D 61/73).
Effects are now in Stereo and include: Tube overdrive simulation, Vibe effect, Separate Reverb/Delay effects, Tremolo, Pan, Ring-Mod and Wah-wah that can be controlled with Control Pedal.

NORD STAGE 2 HA88 ALSO IN STOCK!
The Nord Stage 2 is the company's flagship model, incorporating features from all the other models such as the Nord Piano stage piano, Nord Lead synthesizer and Nord Electro. For this reason, the Stage 2 is also the most expensive model... though you could say it's also Nord's best value instrument, because it packs much more features in!
The Stage 2 truly sets itself apart as an instrument for the professional performing musician, and that's why so many major acts use it, including Mumford & Sons, The Raconteurs and Bryan Ferry, to mention but three.
Since the 70s, specially, keyboard players have been surrounding themselves onstage with different sets of keys, because they might want different types of sounds such as piano, Hammond and synthesizer. But if you'll only ever have one keyboard, the Nord Stage 2 is certainly the best option. It covers a lot of ground, always sounding great, and that's why it's become so popular.
