If you know anything about Ed Sheeran or acoustic guitars for the aspiring singer-songwriter, you will be already familiar with the Martin LX1 and LX1E. Sheeran has turned the little Martin guitar into one of our best selling acoustics, known for a compact size, yet huge a tone. It's constructed with a solid sitka spruce top and fitted with a Fishman Isys T pickup system. The acoustic comes complete with a padded back-pack style gig bag – it's everything you need for having a sing around the festival camp fire as well as being able to perform on the main stage too.
With Ed Sheeran often being associated with the LX1E, it's music to our ears that Martin have finally released an official signature model. From Martin's acclaimed custom shop comes the LX1E Ed Sheran Signature Edition...
There have been a few tweaks to the new travel sized guitar which take influence from Ed's musical releases. The headstock features artwork influenced from his multi-platinum selling album '+' with an orange plus sign and 'est. 1991', Ed's year of birth. The plus sign also is on the solid sapele top, which is a darker wood compared with the spruce top of the standard LX1E.
The Signature Guitar Will Raise Money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices
Sheeran has been involved with plenty of charity work, last year raising £40,000 for One25. Endeavoring to put something back into the community, profits from the signature guitar will go to charity EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices). The charity will no doubt benefit from the guitar sales directly whilst also promoting their hard work, providing support for children and young adults with life-threatening illnesses. EACH's logo also appears on the solid top of the guitar.
