Akai's release of the MPC rennaissance sampler workstation last year amalgamated years worth of experience from all models in the flagship MPC range. The sampler works in sync with their dedicated Akai DAW software whilst at the same time has the same workflow and sound quality of classic MPCs including the MPC3000. This year at NAMM Akai have gone back to basics with a sampler that's quick and easy to load and play samples. More importantly you can get your hands on it for sub £100.
The MPX8 has 8 velocity pads capable of triggering a wealth of samples, with plenty of samples already built-in. Even so, uploading your own samples onto the SD card is made a piece of cake as Akai have included a drag-and-drop sample editor software for Mac and PC. From there you can add create custom sample sets and kits whilst editing tuning and applying reverb too.
Both the LCD screen and 8 pads are backlit ideal making it easy to use in all venues. It's the ideal companion for DJs, radio presenters, adding to backing tracks and as a back-up accessory for drummers. Connect it to your PA system using the 2 1/4" jack outputs, use it at home with the 1/8" headphone output and as a studio controller with the USB/MIDI connection.
The Akai MPX8 is only £79.99! Pre-order yours here!
